Recreation/Youth Office

The Recreation Department and Community Center is responsible for developing
and managing the youth and recreation programs for the town. The Recreation Department’s Director is Ashley Sweeney (Youth/Recreation Staff Contacts) It offers a wide range of programs, events, and activities for all ages and also oversees the operation of the Rochester Community Center located at 15 Tobacco Road in Accord.

The Department is guided by The Recreation Commission Board, which usually meets
the third Wednesday of the month at the Community Center at 9:30 A.M.

After-School Program:

The Town of Rochester After-School Program is a community based program allowing local children to have a safe, fun and inexpensive place to go after school each day. Registration for the 2023-2024 school year will begin on Monday, August 28th. Please call the Town of Rochester Recreation Department for more information at (845) 626-2115. Your child must be enrolled in the Rondout Valley Central School District to attend.

2023 Summer Program

2023 Summer Registration Forms

Registration for the Town of Rochester “2023 Summer Program” will begin on Monday, April 17th at 9am at the Harold Lipton Community Center in Accord. You must be a town resident to participate in the program. Registration will only be accepted in person. Additional information can be found on the registration forms. Please call the Recreation Department with any other questions at (845) 626-2115.

Community Activities/Trips:

To sign up for a trip or activity listed in the Newsletter, please call the
office or come in to sign-up. (No sign-ups for trips accepted on the
answering machine.) If you sign up for a trip, we will hold a seat for you
unless you call and cancel and then we will try to sell your ticket to
someone on the waiting list. If your tickets cannot be sold, you are held
responsible for payment, and you will not be reimbursed.

Please be aware that trip goers must adhere to bus departure times for
destinations so we can remain on schedule. Failure to do so will result in
not being allowed to signup for future trips. Please Note that due to bank
policy, we must charge $15 for each returned check. Alcohol is prohibited on
Youth Department trips, programs, and activities.

Rent-A-Kid Program:

Our Rent-A-Kid Program helps connect kids wanting to work with folks that
need help around the house. Services include, Yard work, greenhouse work,
housecleaning, mother’s helper, babysitting, pet sitting, washing windows,
seasonal work, etc.
