Methods of Payment:

Purchases made at the Town Clerk’s Office (8am-12pm & 1pm-4pm Monday-Friday) can be made using check, cash, money order or credit card(additional fees apply for cc)

Purchases made at the Transfer Station must be a check or money order only.

All checks are made payable to “Town of Rochester”. Checks MUST include address, phone number & permit number

Permits: (available for purchase at the Town Clerk’s office OR at the Transfer Station)

You must have a valid permit on your vehicle to use the Transfer Station
Valid for 1 year of said purchase date.
1 permit per household which includes 2 vehicles
Effective 10/5/18 Commercial haulers and non-residents permits are no longer available

Resident: $ 35.00 (proof of residency)

Senior Permit 65+: $ 20.00

KAFAS- Kerhonkson Fire, Accord Fire $ 20.00 (proof of membership required)

Punchcards: (available for purchase at the Town Clerk’s office OR at the Transfer Station)

YOU MUST WRITE YOUR PERMIT NUMBER ON YOUR PUNCHCARD
Punchcards are sold in $ 8.00 increments with 4 punches on each card.

NEW Town of Rochester Transfer Station Fees (effective Friday, 9/18/20)

Transfer Station May be Used by Town of Rochester Residential Users ONLY

No Commercial, Business, Contractor, or Farm Refuse Accepted
(This is due to recent NYS DEC regulations governing the hauling of refuse and C&D)

No Vehicles larger than a pickup or equivalent size tow behind car trailer
No Mechanical Tip Vehicles

Up to 30 gallons $ 2.00 ( 1 punch)
30 gallons or greater $ 4.00 ( 2 punches)

RESIDENTIAL CONSTRUCTION & DEMOLITION DEBRIS (C&D)

RESIDENTIAL ONLY.
NO COMMERCIAL, BUSINESS, CONTRACTOR, OR FARM C&D ACCEPTED

LOAD MAXIMUM of 2 Cubic Yards.
Cubic Yard Guide: 3x3x3ft = 1 cubic yard (27 square feet)

C&D capacity is limited.
Transfer Station reserves the right to refuse C&D based on the capacity of transfer station.

Cannot be filled above the body of truck

Short 6’ Truck Bed: about 1.5 cubic yards $100

Free Bin: usable items (as determined by TS employees) May be left in the free pile at no charge (No books please). There is no loitering.

Mulch: Mulch by the bucket is available in the Spring (first come first serve)

Paint: accepted as C&D if it is fully dried (solid)

Approved Recyclables: If you are not sure about an item please ask. No recyclables in bags please keep loose

MIXED PAPER RECYCLING: all paper should be clean and dry

Newspaper, magazines/catalogs, computer/copy/fax paper, writing/ledger paper, phonebooks, brown bags, cereal/tissue boxes, junk mail ( ads, envelopes, coupons), wrapping paper(not foil/metallic), greeting cards, paper egg cartons, books( hardcovers must be removed), Shredded Paper( in clear bags)

This is considered garbage:

Wax or plastic-coated paper/pizza boxes, wet or food-contaminated paper, paper streamers/tissue paper, tissues/napkins/paper towels.

CONTAINER RECYCLING: must be empty and clean

Plastic bottles ( drink, soap, etc.), jugs( milk, juice, etc.) ,tubs( yogurt, butter, etc.) caps/lids with # 1 & # 7

Aluminum cans, (beverages,etc.),clean aluminum foil/trays, tin cans(soup, etc.) metal lids from jars.

This is considered garbage:

Plastic bags/film (bring to participating retail stores), black plastic, plastic toys, electronics, Styrofoam, plastic food”clamshells”, plastic hangers, plant pots, laundry baskets, garden hoses, scrap metal/pipes, Tupperware, shelf-stable food cartons, furniture/fencings/siding, auto parts

GLASS RECYCLING: must be a clean bottle or jar with lids removed

Beverage bottles, food jars, any other CLEAN bottle or jar

This is considered garbage:

Household dishes/ovenware/pyrex/ceramics/porcelain, window glass, light bulbs, mirrors, crystal glass

CARDBOARD RECYCLING: flatten cardboard keep loose do not tie bundles together

Corrugated cardboard only

This is considered garbage:

Plastic bags, plastic shipping pillows(recyclable with plastic film at participating retail stores), food contaminated cardboard, Styrofoam/packing peanuts, cereal/tissue boxes, toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls, brown paper bags, paper of any kind
