Youth Commission Meeting
Call to order: Pam Stocking 9:30AM.
Present: Jessica Knapp-Chair, Pam Stocking-Vice Chair, Manuela Michailescu, Debbie Slutsky, Sandy Chipman, Ashley Sweeney-Recreation Director, Rita Harkins-Assistant Recreation Director, Bethany Dennin-Assistant Recreation Director.
Approval of Minutes: Pam Stocking made motion to approve, Manuela Michailescu seconded.
*Both Youth Commission and the Recreation Department members tied silverware for the Thanksgiving Community Luncheon that will take place on November 22, 2019*
Verbal Director’s Report: Ashley Sweeney
• Basketball-Senior and Junior groups are currently full. If more kids sign up, they will be put on a waiting list. Clinic has so many kids this year that the program had to be split into two different groups:one at 6pm and the other at 7pm. The program is every Monday for 6 weeks.
• Holiday Celebrations-Senior Brunch will be December 13, 2019 at 10:30AM. Youth Holiday Party will be December 13, 2019 from 5pm-7pm.
**The “Sue Matson Distinguished Youth Award” and the “Mary Lee Friend of Youth Award” will be presented at these events. Nominations for the awards were discussed. It was voted on by Youth Commission members. Jessica Knapp made a motion, seconded by Pam Stocking; that Carole Metsger would be the recipient of the 2019 “Mary Lee Friend of Youth Award” and George Burkett would be the recipient of the “Sue Matson Distinguished Youth Award.” Ashley Sweeney will contact Sue Matson and The Rondout Valley Education Foundation to inform them of the winner of the “Sue Matson Distinguished Youth Award.”
