Town Board Budget Meeting #2 – October 2019

The October 16, 2019 Budget Workshop Meeting was held at 6:00pm at the Town of Rochester Town Hall

PRESENT:
Councilwoman Bea Haugen-Depuy Councilman Chris Hewitt
Supervisor Michael Baden

ABSENT:
Councilman Brian Drabkin
Councilwoman Cindy Fornino

PLEDGE:

Supervisor Baden opened the meeting and led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

AUTHORIZING THE SUPERVISOR TO SIGN CONTRACT- FIRE ALARM SYSTEM:
Resolution # 247-2019:

A Motion was made by Councilman Hewitt authorizing the Supervisor to enter into a contract with Rest Assured Alarm Systems Inc., 244 Clinton Ave., Kingston, NY 12401 for fire alarm monitoring at the Harold Lipton Community Center for a ten-year agreement period, payable annually at the rate of $540 per year.

2020 PRELIMINARY BUDGET REVIEW:
Justice Court:
Justice Shaheen:
Roof of courthouse is leaking – Supervisor to get quotes for repair
Would like to begin a plea by mail program for traffic court – Town Board to follow up with Town’s prosecutor as it would be a conflict of interest for justices
Building Dept./Code Enforcement:
Jerry Davis, CEO
Becky Paddock-Stange, Zoning Coordinator presented
Request for the Town Board to consider software which will improve and expedite the building dept. process – Town Board placed $10,000 in the budget for software, Requested Building Dept. check with other municipalities to find out what software they use.
Recreation Dept.:
Ashley Sweeney, Recreation Director
Rita Harkins, Bethany Dennin, Asst. Recreation Directors presented
Town Board included a budget line for transportation for the summer youth program.
Made some small adjustments in supplies line items. Town Board included funding for 4 adult bus trips – Spending neutral as these will generate revenue to pay for the expenses.
