Meeting Notes for April 11, 2013

  • Avery Carbone was unable to make tonight’s meeting, no one was sure where he is in the process of getting nominated  to ECC by Town Board
  • Ian Duncan will be sworn in at next Town Board meeting
  • Earth Day – ECC will join Town Road Clean-up event on April 20 (weather permitting)
  • ECC will meet at Skate Time 10 am, Mettacahonts RD on April 20 (April 27 rain date).
  • Laura has trash pickers tonight
  • Banners are up in two locations on RT 209

  • Creek Week
  • No event plans yet, canoe clean-up of Rondout possible
  • Avery offered use of several canoes
  • Jorge has a canoe and offers to help coordinate
  • ECC won’t spend money on paid advertising this year, hasn’t been effective in the past
  • Reports
  • Rail Trail – Steve not present, no report
  • Stream monitoring – Joe reports that Riverkeeper still doesn’t have a grant or other funding in place to pay for sampling in 2013.  Sampling may not happen this year.
  • October farm market event Subcommittee – October  12 date discussed previously conflicts with Common Ground event in Marbletown.  Subcommittee suggests date move to week prior, October 6.  Chris Hewitt and his sister are designing new logo and coming up with a new name for event.  Subcommittee working on a list of farmers, other local businesses and demonstrators to invite.
  • County EMC – Jorge reports that several ECC members attended the presentation that the EMC held in lieu of its regular monthly meeting.  The presentation explained what Green Infrastructure Mapping was and how Ulster County would be the pilot county in NY to have its green infrastructure mapped.  The mapping consists of collecting GIS data to highlight large tracts of undeveloped open spaces to create a database that can be used in many ways.
