ECC Minutes April 2011

Town of Rochester Environmental Conservation Commission Meeting
April 14, 2011

 

Present:  Laura Finestone, John Messerschmidt, Steve Rice, Lillian Green, Hank Bartosik, Lynn Archer (Town Board Liaison) and new member, Bob Dandrew.

 

Old Business:   The Earth Day Cleanup was discussed.  We will be
conducting this event in conjunction with the Youth Commission.  Our group will take on Airport Road off of Route 209.  (This was changed to Mettacahonts Road starting in front of Skate Time.  John will contact the High School and get a group together to do that area.  Steve was in charge of the Mettacahonts Road area.  Lynn Archer informed the Commission that the Town Board wants the ECC to do a cleanup four times a year.  The commission agreed to discuss this at our next meeting.  We will also have a Rail Trail cleanup on April 23rd  starting at 12 p.m. (This event was cancelled because of weather.)

 

New Business:  Lillian gave a synopsis of the Ulster County Environmental Management Council.  There were two speakers at the meeting.  Mary Kramarchyk a representative of the NYS DEC and Meredith Taylor of the Catskill Center -EAB Taskforce.  The major idea of both speakers was the Emerald Ash Bore and what can be done by local communities to deal with this problem.
Hank B. will be attending the Omelette  Meeting which is also discussing the EAB problem.
Laura F. asked new member, Bob Dandrew to help with a Facebook page for our ECC.
Steve R. stated that he asked Carl Chipman to join the Trails Advisory Committee and he did.
Lynn Archer announced a FYI–Historical Presentation

 

The next ECC meeting will be May 12th at 7 p.m.
