Fish Sale
Every Spring, the Ulster County Soil and Water Conservation District holds a fingerling sale for the convenience of local pond owners. The fish size runs from about 4 inches to 7-8 inches.
Largemouth Bass, Rainbow Trout, Catfish and forage fish such as minnows are available for sale. Those who wish to keep their pond free of vegetative growth without using chemicals can purchase Triploid Sterile Grass Carp. These fish, at the time of purchase, are an average of 10-13 inches and can grow about 2 feet or 30 pounds with a life span of around 10 years.Fish Distribution is scheduled for Monday, May 17, 2021this year here at the District office in Highland. Fish stocking requires a general permit from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. For those planning to stock Triploid Grass Carp, a specialized permit is required for that species from the NYS DEC visit www.dec.ny.gov or contact our office.Please feel free to contact out office if you have a question, or wish to be placed on our mailing list.
