News – Memorial Day Ceremony Weather Update – 5/27/24 1PM

Memorial Day Ceremony Weather Update

The Memorial Day Ceremony plans have been modified due to the forecasted rain.

The outdoor events have been canceled, including the parade. Instead of the outdoor events, the Town of Rochester and the Accord Fire District will hold a joint ceremony at the Accord Firehouse starting at 1:00 pm to commemorate the day, followed by a brief Memorial Garden planting following, weather permitting.

Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade

The Town of Rochester will hold a remembrance ceremony at 12:00 Noon at Veterans Park, Accord Town Hall on Monday May 27.

A parade will follow beginning at 1:00pm, hosted by the Accord Fire District. The parade route will be Town Hall to Scenic Road to Main Street Accord ending at the Firehouse. A ceremony will follow there to conclude Memorial Day ceremonies.

Notice – Accord Fire District – Expend Funds From Repair Reserve Fund

RESOLUTION OF THE ACCORD FIRE DISTRICT TO EXPEND FUNDS FROM THE REPAIR RESERVE FUND
Whereas, the Fire District has resolved to make repairs to the property and grounds of the Fire District, including repairing or replacing heating, ventilation and air conditioning (“HVAC”) units, repairing or repaving blacktop surfaces, and conducting miscellaneous general upkeep and repairs to the existing Fire District building; and,

Whereas the Fire District estimates that the total costs of the above-referenced projects will be $159,000.00; and,

Whereas the Fire District maintains a Repair Reserve Fund that was created for the purpose of making repairs and existing Fire District property and grounds; and,
Whereas, the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Fire District have determined that the $159,000.00 of proposed repair projects can be paid for utilizing the Repair Reserve Fund; and,
Whereas, spending reserve funds requires that the resolution to expend the funds be subject to permissive referendum;

NOW THEREFORE, upon motion made, seconded and discussion held, and subject to permissive referendum, the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Accord Fire District RESOLVE as follows:

1. The Fire District shall be permitted to utilize the Repair Reserve Fund to pay for the costs of the proposed repair projects, including repairing or replacing heating, ventilation and air conditioning (“HVAC”) units, repairing or repaving blacktop surfaces, and conducting miscellaneous general upkeep and repairs to the existing Fire District building;

2. The cost of these projects is one hundred fifty nine thousand ($159,000) dollars, which may be withdrawn from the Repair Reserve Fund to be applied towards such costs. The withdrawal may be taken in one or more unequal amounts as needed and need not only be withdrawn in this budget year;

3. No funds may be withdrawn until the passage of thirty (30) days from the date of publication of the abstract of this resolution;

4. The Secretary is hereby directed to place an abstract of the resolution upon the town’s sign board and website immediately, which must remain there for at least 15 days;

5. The Secretary is hereby directed to place an abstract of the resolution upon the fire district’s sign board and website, if any, immediately, which must remain there for at least 15 days;

6. The Secretary is hereby directed to place such abstract in the newspaper having general circulation in this district.

ABSTRACT

By resolution dated 28th day of March , 2024, the Accord Fire District has approved a resolution subject to permissive referendum to withdraw up to $159,000 from its Repair Reserve Fund to be put towards repairs to the property and grounds of the Fire District, including repairing or replacing heating, ventilation and air conditioning (“HVAC”) units, repairing or repaving blacktop surfaces, and conducting miscellaneous general upkeep and repairs to the existing Fire District building. Petitions for a referendum must be submitted to the secretary of the Accord Fire District no later than thirty (30) days after the date of publication of this notice.
