Come one come all and enjoy in this year’s Heritage Day Fall Festival!
When: October 2, 2021 beginning at 11am
Location: Main St. Accord… FHR Museum, Accord Fire Company & Harold Lipton Community Center.
Join us for the Historic Main St. walk learning how Main St. Accord was the center of our community during the 19th century. We will have an unveiling of the Historic Accord District sign. Learn about the history of the D&H canal, the impact of the O &W Rail Road on our Town, sign up for a scheduled tour of the Former Accord Train Station, check out the old Anderson Mill and see what the future may hold for it.
Our museum will be open where you can see our collection of local historical materials, including documents, books, oral histories, genealogical information and much more.
We will have antique farming equipment on display curtesy of Fred Wustrau, an antique car show , the fire company will have their antique trucks out on display, newer trucks for kids to learn about and explore, meet your local fire fighters and learn about how you can become part of the fire company , there will be a smoke house for children to learn about what to do in a situation where your home is on fire. Our Environmental conservation commission will host a variety of presentations for all to be apart of, one presentation will be on the rehabilitation of an injured hawk come see it’s release, Our Historic Preservation Commission will educate you on the history of the D&H canal, learn about our restored Palentown Schoolhouse which is on the national register of Historic places, our community center will host the annual Jennie Bell pie contest, a quilt show, hayrides, face painting, pumpkin painting and more… we will have food vendors, live music by Mister OH and Breakaway, we will end the evening with a 7pm candlelight vigil in memory of Alice Schoonmaker and Richard Rider at the museum and fireworks finale at 8pm at the Town of Rochester Town park sponsored by the Town of Rochester …. you don’t want to miss out on this fun filled day….
