VETERANS DAY TRIBUTE
NOVEMBER 11, 2018 11:00AM
VETERANS PARK
50 SCENIC ROAD
ACCORD, NY
The Town of Rochester and VFW Post #8959 will honor all veterans and pay tribute to their service on November 11, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Veterans Park, 50 Scenic Road in Accord. All are invited to attend to honor those that have bravely and selflessly served our country.
The Town of Rochester is also please to announce the donation of a Callery Pear tree #523 by the Survivor Tree Project. The tree has been planted in Veterans Park. Each year, the 9/11 Memorial gives seedlings from the Survivor Tree to three communities that have endured tragedy in recent years. The Survivor Tree seedling program was launched on September 11, 2013, in partnership with Bartlett Tree Experts, of Stamford, Conn., and John Bowne High School in the Flushing neighborhood of Queens. The Survivor Tree was removed from the rubble of the World Trade Towers and placed in the care of the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. After its recovery and rehabilitation, the tree was returned to the Memorial in 2010. The Town is honored to be a recipient of the program and thanks resident Shane Ricks for making the arrangements for the donation and delivery of the tree.
