Town Board Public Hearing #2 – July 2022

The Town of Rochester Town Board held a public hearing on July 7,2022at 6:30pm at the

Supervisor Baden called the meeting to order and led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

PUBLIC HEARING:CREATING DISTRICT FOR PROPOSED KERHONKSON-ACCORD FIRST AID SQUAD AMBULANCE DISTRICT:

PUBLIC COMMENT:

Charles Nerkos:Gave a presentation on the need for an ambulance district.

Bea Haugen-Depuy: read excerpts from past meetings about ARPA funding. The Town Board agreed in 2021 to $ 150,000.00 for KAFAS where is the money?

Supervisor Baden explained that a contract has to be drawn up first and that is what the Board is in the process of doing.

Roger Hoornbeek: for .97 cents count me in!

Emma Post: why aren’t we going fully paid?

David Bollin: as a 1st responder this is a long time coming. I applaude the Town Board for doing this.

One resident asked if .97 cents week per household really doable?

Another resident asked the process of who would run the rescue squad.

Supervisor Baden explained the oversite of budget of the special district.

Joe Vitti: Hats off to all these volunteers.

Zorian Pinsky: explained the equipment cost alone cost an enormous amount of money. The stretcher alone cost $ 60,000.00.

Supervisor Baden explained the permissive referendum process.
Charles Nerkos:thanked the Town Board and the people for the support. It will cost approximately
$ 175,000.00 per year to run the squad.Who will run us? We will hire separate paid E5 support services.

A Motion was made by Councilman Paddock to close the public hearing at 7:15pm.
Second: Councilman Coleman motion carried
