Verbal Director’s Report: Ashley Sweeney
• Thanksgiving-We approximate about 130 people attended. It was a giant success! Thank you to all our volunteers and people who donated to make this event so successful.
• Basketball-Moving along nicely. All divisions filled up this year. Mike Smith recently had a meeting with all coaches to discuss controlling the environment a little more. He wanted to convey that all volunteers for the program must work together to make sure things run smoothly. Specifically, children running around the halls while games and practices are going on. He would like me to consider finding someone to do security next season.
• Casino Community Trip (Resorts World Catskills)-Original date was January 25, 2020. Postponed until February 8, 2020. First Student (bus company) decided they didn’t feel comfortable driving into Sullivan County due to possible inclement weather. Let’s hope there is good weather on the 8th.
• Game Night-No sign-ups for January 22nd date. Cancelled. Rescheduled for January 29th. This date is going to be cancelled as well because no one has signed up. We want to revisit this idea in the Spring.
• All adult classes are going very well. Great turn out for all; “Keep it Moving” Class, Chair Yoga & Line Dancing. At the end of March, we will be adding an 8-week Tai Chi class to our repertoire. Rita Harkins reports: it’s a skill building class that will be offered twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays from 11:30AM-12:30PM at the Harold Lipton Community Center. The class is brought to us by Ulster County Office for the Aging.
• We have a new Town Board Liaison, Adam Paddock. I’m going to be including him in our Youth Commission e-mails. He may not be able to attend a lot of meetings because of his work schedule; be he looks forward to being involved in any way that he can. I met with him with him once already. He has some great ideas for the department. He is particularly into restoration of the town park, especially the baseball field.
• St. Patrick’s Day-Luncheon will be held at the Harold Lipton Community Center on March 17, 2020 from 11:30AM-1PM.
• Easter Egg Hunt-April 4, 2020.
Meeting adjourned: 10:26AM
Next Meeting: February 19, 2020
