Town of Rochester Youth Commission Minutes January 23, 2019

Call to order: 9:41am
Present: Jessica Knapp-Chair, Pam Stocking-Vice Chair, Debbie Slutsky, Ashley Sweeney-Recreation/Youth Director, Bethany Dennin-Assistant to the Recreation Director

Approval of Minutes:

Verbal Directors Report given by Ashley Sweeney
Discussions: Tree lighting could be yearly, very lovely community event. Museum open early, maybe provide refreshments to the public. The collaboration between The Friends of Historic Rochester, The Recreation Department and the Accord Fire Department was very nice. We had approximately 120 participants altogether. Cheyenne Freer was presented with the Sue Matson Distinguished Youth Award.
Holiday Senior Brunch-Great turn out! About 100 people. Alice Gray was presented with the Mary Lee Friend of Youth Award.
New news:
Valentine’s Party will be during After school program-Staff will have “Minute To Win It” games, crafts and build cereal box mailboxes for kids’ valentine’s
St. Patty’s-March 15th from 11:30-1:00 youth commission will volunteer.
Easter- April 13th -start time 12 noon, Hiding eggs starting at 9am
Summer- Will be a 6 weeks program, 3 weeks in July, 3 weeks in August-BRC employment for first 3 weeks. The break in between with provide time for extra staff meeting.
