• Mother’s Day-The Recreation Department handed out 100 dessert boxes to women in the Town of Rochester. Mostly women who participate in our exercise classes and to some local businesses; Country Clipper, Kerhonkson Diner, A&M Hardware.
The Recreation Department also made greeting cards for all third graders in Kerhonkson and Marbletown Elementary Schools.
• All three exercise classes are running smoothly at the pavilion in the Town Park. Lots of participation.
• The Community Center has become a pop-up Vaccination site. It is being run by the County of Ulster. County Executive, Pat Ryan visited for the first one back in April.
• Memorial Day-Traveling parade around the whole town. Jessica wants to ask Mike more specifics and will reach out to him again. Manuela had concerns about what time the ceremony at Veteran’s Park will be afterwards just because some people may only want to attend the ceremony and not the parade.
• Ash Tree Arts Festival-Saturday, June 5th. I will have a table set up for the Recreation Department. I’m going to do a nature themed scavenger hunt and give out prizes when it’s completed.
• Recently we had two different Ulster County 4H Groups plant trees at the Town Park and the Harold Lipton Community Center. We are very grateful for their services and their tree donation.
• Heritage Day-October 2, 2021. Put on by the Friends of Historic Rochester. The Recreation Department will be very involved in planning for the day and we would like to invite the Recreation Commission to help out too. Deb Martin will do a quilt show and will play music. Jessica has volunteered to be a DJ in between bands if needed.
The Recreation Commission is interested in doing a Yard Sale/Swap and Plant Swap in the fall behind the Harold Lipton Community Center. Jessica suggested asking for a donation if people are interested in having space or a table at the event.
