The Recreation Department is collecting recyclable bags, even numbers on the recycling codes, and bubble wrap to make benches. 500 pounds of plastic is needed per bench. Ask the recreation department for more details.
Exercise classes are finally able to start up again beginning May 4th. They will be held in the town park under the pavilion. Please call the Recreation Department if you are interested in attending. Schedule as follows:
Tuesday 11:00 am Keep Moving with Rita
Wednesday 11:00 am Line Dancing with Goldie

The Summer Program has been approved this year. There will be two sessions, 3 weeks in July and 3 weeks in August. Covid 19 protocols will be followed. The program will be at the town park with field trips Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Registration will begin in June and forms will be available on the town’s website and the Recreation Department Facebook page. Children will only be able to sign up for one session because the number of children served will be fewer due to covid 19 protocols.
Memorial Day – Is still in planning stage. There will be a drive thru parade like last year. As requested, Jessica spoke with Town Supervisor Mike Baden, he is meeting with Aaron from the fire department. There is talk of adding “floats” but no walkers since the route is much longer. A ceremony will be at the Veterans park, (beginning of route) and at the end of the route at the firehouse. More details at the next meeting. Mike will keep us in the loop.
The town is going to charge $100 to rent the pavilion in the town park for events, $50 could be refundable if the park is left clean of debris by the renter.
Discussion: The commission spoke about having a “share day” or “yard sale” where community members could meet, set up tables and exchange, give away or sell unwanted gently used items. Event to happen behind recreation center or in the town park? It came up due to the closing of the share area at the town dump due to covid 19. Included in this discussion was having a plant swap too. The possibility of providing tables from the recreation department was mentioned along with asking for a donation for the use of tables and having a space at the day. Suggestion was to have 20-30 participants who will stay with their items until the end, any items left would return home with the owner. More discussion at the next meeting
Also, a suggestion was made to have single page flyers to distribute to town businesses listing upcoming events since the 3-month newsletter is not going out.
