Town Board Audit/Workshop Meeting – December 2017

The December Audit/ Workshop Meeting was held on December 28, 2017 at 7:00pm at the Town of Rochester Town Hall.
PRESENT:
Supervisor Chipman Councilwoman Chachkin Councilwoman Fornino
Councilwoman Haugen-Depuy Town Clerk Gundberg

ABSENT:

Councilman Drabkin Town Attorney Christiana

PLEDGE:

Supervisor Chipman opened the meeting and Jacob Chipman led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

A Motion made by Councilwoman Haugen-Depuy to approve the following;

General Fund Abstract 12 of 2017 $ 58,088.63
Highway Fund Abstract 12 of 2017 $ 42,336.06

2018 PLOW TRUCKS FOR THE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT:

Highway Superintendent Spano asked that the truck discussion be tabled till next week.

NAMING OF THE COMMUNITY CENTER:
Resolution # 133-2017:

A Motion was made by Councilwoman Fornino to name the Community Center Building the Harold Lipton Community Center.

Seconded by: Councilwoman Chachkin

DISCUSSION:

Supervisor Chipman stated that Harold Lipton wore many hats in local government. He served as Town Justice, Highway Superintendent, Town Supervisor & Town Councilmen. If it wasn’t for Harold Lipton there wouldn’t be a Community Center.

Councilwoman Haugen-Depuy stated she would like to see Doris and Ed Lamon honored as well. They did a lot for the community as well and should be honored.

Supervisor Chipman stated that he would like to see the food pantry addition named after The Lamons.

NAMING OF FOOD PANTRY ADDITION:
Resolution #134 -2017:

A Motion was made by Councilwoman Haugan-Depuy to name the Food Pantry addition the Doris and Ed Lamon Food Pantry.

PRIDE OF ULSTER COUNTY AWARD:

Legislator Ron Lapp presented Supervisor Chipman with a Pride of Ulster County award for his 10 years of dedicated service as Town of Rochester Supervisor from January 1, 2008- December 31, 2017. Supervisor Chipman has done an excellent job serving the community and serving as President to the Ulster County Supervisors & Mayor’s Association, Chairman of the Family of Woodstock and serving on various committee’s and boards.

Mike Baden thanked both Supervisor Chipman and Councilwoman Chachkin for their dedication and time served on the Board. He also thanked Tom Ryan for his service as Court Officer.

Supervisor Chipman thanked Councilwoman Chachkin for her service, from reporter to councilwoman you have done an excellent job.

Councilwoman Chachkin stated it’s been a great 10 years!

A Motion was made by Councilwoman Chachkin to adjourn the meeting at 7:17pm.
