Members Present: Alice Cross (President), Lindsey Arnold, Elaine Laflamme, Alice Schoonmaker, Franz Dannecker (arrived at 2:25).
Absent: Town Board Liaison .
Call to Order – Alice Cross called the meeting to order at 2:05.
Minutes – The minutes from March 19, 2018 were circulated prior to the meeting.
Action – Alice Schoonmaker moved to approve the March Minutes subject to clarifications and corrections by Alice Cross. Lindsey Arnold seconded the motion. All present approved the March Minutes subject to the corrections.
Signs – L. Arnold reported on her conversations with Johnson Signs & Tees of Kingston. The replacement sign for Whitfield Hamlet is $146. A. Cross asked about installation costs for the Whitfield sign and L. Arnold estimated about $100. A. Cross asked if the posts for the original Whitfield sign were around and L. Arnold reported that they were though they were splintered on the bottom. A. Cross asked about erecting the sign in the field, depending on how far from the road the sign has to be. L. Arnold thought getting approval for a sign in the field would not be an issue. Discussion ensued about volunteer help to install the Whitfield sign and L. Arnold will call Tom Hall.
Action – Alice Schoonmaker moved to order the replacement sign for Whitfield Hamlet from Johnson Signs & Tees. A. Cross seconded the motion. All approved ordering the replacement sign. L. Arnold will order the replacement sign and the bill will be sent to HPC at P.O. Box 65.
The cost of a sign for the Accord Rural Cemetery is $540 plus $100 for posts, cement and finials and $200 for installation. Apparently the posts on the old cemetery sign were too close together and the sign warped. A. Cross recommended that Johnson Signs & Tees install the Accord Rural Cemetery sign. The quote was for informational purposes only as HPC will not be responsible for the cemetery sign. A. Cross will be looking for private donations to cover the cost of the cemetery sign.
Budget – E. Laflamme raised issue about budgeting for the Whitfield replacement sign and the contract with Neil Larson of Larson Fisher Associates. A. Cross asked what the 2018 budget was for HPC and was told that it was reduced in 2018 from $5,000 to $2,000. A. Schoonmaker will speak with Brian Drabkin about the reduction as he worked on the budget and is the liaison to the Town Board.
